SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE

1.Main characters.

Viola de Lesseps (Gwyneth Paltrow) and William Shakespeare (Joseph Fiennes).

2.Romeo & Juliet and the film.

William Shakespeare was an English poet, playwright and actor, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist. He is often called England's national poet and the "Bard of Avon".
Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare early in his career about two young star-crossed lovers whose deaths ultimately reconcile their feuding families. It was among Shakespeare's most popular plays during his lifetime and along with Hamlet, is one of his most frequently performed plays. Today, the title characters are regarded as archatypal young lovers.

3.The theatre of the age.

English Renaissance theatre or early modern English theatre and Elizabethan theatre refers to the theatre of England between 1562 and 1642.

This is the style of the plays of William Shakespeare, Christopher Marlowe, and Ben Jonson.

4.The society of the age.

The Elizabethan era is the epoch in the Tudor period of the history of England during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.This "golden age" represented the apogee of the English Renaissance and saw the flowering of poetry, music and literature.
Is one of the most fascinating periods in the History of England. The Elizabethan Era is named after the greatest Queens of England - Queen Elizabeth I. The Elizabethan Era is not only famous for the Virgin Queen but also for the era itself.

5.The history.

Romantic comedy set in London in the late 16th century: Young playwright William Shakespeare struggles with his latest work "Romeo and Ethel the Pirate's Daughter". A great fan of Shakespeare's plays is young, wealthy Viola who is about to be married to Lord Wessex, but constantly dreams to be an actress. Women were not allowed to act on stage at that time (female roles were played by men, too), but dressed up as a boy, Viola successfully auditions for the part of Romeo. Soon she and William are caught in a forbidden romance that provides rich inspiration for his play.

6.The Queen and the theatre.

Elizabeth I was Queen of England and Ireland from 17 November 1558 until her death on 24 March 1603. Sometimes called The Virgin Queen, Gloriana or Good Queen Bess, Elizabeth was the last  of the House of Tudor.

SHAKESPEARE

1.-What do you now about Shakespeare?
Shakespeare was an English poet, more know as The Bard of Avon. Shakespeare was born an brought up in Standford-upon-Avon the 26 April 1564, Warwickshire. At the age of 18, he married Anne Hathaway, with whom he had three children. In his last phase, he wrote tragicomedies, also known as romances and collaborated with other playwrights. He died the 23 April 1616.
2.- Do some research on the "pavan" (3 or 4 lines are enough).
The ''pavan'' is a slow processional dance common in Europe during the 16th century (Renaissance). 
The pavane the earliest-known music for which was published in venice by Octaviano Petrucci in Joan Ambrosio <<Dalza's Intabolatura de lauto libro quarto>> in 1580, is a sedate and dignified couple dance, similar to the 15th century bass dance. The music which accompanied it appears originally to have been fast or moderately fast but, like many other dances, became slower over time (Brown 2001).
3.- In your own words, try to express the feeling you get listening to this music.
When I hear this music I fell happy, because it's fast and I like fast music.

I feel happy with that music, because I love music and that instruments remember me that music was different in the past.
